The Joy of Ordinary

Real Life, Real Portraits

I’ve seen so many portraits lately of a child looking prim, proper, clean, etc.  Out of their environment and just not themselves.  In their parents (or the photographers) imaginary world.

I’ve got a new favorite picture of Jack that’s the opposite of those types of portraits.  He’s sweaty.  His hair is messed up.  He was so stinky.  His shirt was dirty.  But, it’s him.  It’s the real joy on his face that makes this picture.  And that’s what I love about it.  It’s real life.
