The Joy of Ordinary

One Way Conversations

So, I’ve talked about my nephew Jack and his texting and how I feel about kids his age having cell phones.  I know he hasn’t read my blog or that post, but to look at my texting thread with him on my phone, you’d think he read and was mad at me.  But, he would just tell you that it’s becuase his phone isn’t as fancy as ours and he has to hit the number pad to send texts.

I like to send him a text every once in a while just to let him know I’m thinking of him.  He almost never texts me back.  Just the other night, I sent him a text to telling him that Billy Butler hit a home run to put the Royals in the lead- and that I love him.

Sometimes, it would be nice just to get an “Love you too” but I know that I don’t do it to get love back but rather just to express my love to him.  So, my text thread with him is evidence of my little one way conversation with him.
